Global broadcasters in partnership ask Why Poverty?

Global broadcasters in partnership ask Why Poverty?

Friday 16th November, 2012

Why Poverty? uses film to get people talking about poverty. In November we screened four films from the Why Poverty? series and hosted Q&As with Nick Fraser (editor of BBC Storyville) and Brian Hill (dir. Welcome To The World).

From the eight documentaries in the series we screened Park Avenue: Money, Power and The American Dream (dir. Alex Gibney), Welcome To The World (dir. Brian Hill), Solar Mamas (dirs. Mona Eldaief & Jehane Noujaim), and Education, Education (dir. Weijun Chen).

To find out more about Why Poverty? and the other four films in the series, click here to visit their website. Make sure you also check out the short films made for the series, some of which are available to watch on their site.

Click here to find out when the films will be shown on BBC Four in November and December!

Click here to read why this project is the most ambitious attempt to date to ask why, in the 21st Century, a billion people still live in poverty.
